Origin

This character combines the idea of grasping or holding with the hand. The top part, 執, conveys the sense of seizing or taking control of something with determination and focus. The bottom component 手 is the hand radical, which marks this as an action performed by the hands. Together, these parts create an image of firmly grasping something—whether a physical object or an abstract concept like seriousness—with intent and care.
